  This course concentrates on the theoretical basis of ARM technology and its applications running on operating systems.

  In the first place, this course elaborates the foundation of the ARM processor architecture. ARM is the top-level architecture of mobile and embedded processors. ARM is a RISC architecture, with key advantages of small implementation size, high performance, and low power consumption. The ARM architecture comprises system level architecture and application level architecture, and both of them contain programmers’ model and memory models. ARM instruction set is one of the most important aspects of the ARM architecture, which includes branch, exception generating and system instructions, load and store instructions, and data processing instructions.

  In the second place, this course expatiates upon system transplanting and application developing of Android operating system on ARM architecture based SoC. Android has already become the mainstream operating system for nowaday mobile and embedded devices, such as smartphone and smartwatch. The learning contents of the subtle, friendly, portable Android cover, establishment of development environment, kernel configuration, bootloader, file system, device driver, activity, user interface, service, content provider, broadcast, multimedia, network, location service, sensor application, and so forth.
