  Digital Circuit and Logic Design is the representation of signals and sequences of a digital circuit through numbers. It is the basis for digital computing and provides a fundamental understanding on how circuits and hardware communicate within a computer. Digital logic is typically embedded into most electronic devices, including calculators, computers, video games, and watches. This field is utilized by many careers that work with computers and technology, such as engineers and repair technicians.

  Digital Circuit and Logic Design is often offered as a course in engineering degree programs, such as electrical and computer engineering. Related majors may include electronic engineering technology and wireless communications technology. It's also offered as a certificate program for technicians. Digital logic courses or programs allow students to gain hands-on experience by building computer hardware through the use of algorithms and simple inputs. They learn how simple inputs of ones and zeros can be used to store information on computers, including documents, images, sounds, and movies.trains students to input their algorithms into computer-assisted design (or CAD) software to create schematics of logic gates and circuits for a wide variety of electronic devices.

        Digital Circuit and Logic Design students also study combinatorial and sequential logic, memory elements, and flip-flops.   Digital logic uses numbers to represent various signals and sequence of a digital circuit. Digital logic is commonly found in engineering degree programs and is used by a wide range of careers, including computer repair technicians, design engineers, and digital engineers.

2. Comparison between Digital Circuit and Analog Circuits

  The usual advantages of digital circuits when compared to analog circuits are:

  1. Digital circuits can be regenerated to achieve lossless data transmission.

  2. Digital operations interface well with computers and are easy to control with software.

  3. Digital circuits are less affected by noise.

  4. More digital circuitry can be fabricated per square millimeter of integrated-circuit material.

  5. Information storage is much easier than using analog methods.

The usual disadvantages include:

  1. Digital circuits are more complex, and therefore more likely to include human error. Much of the modern art of designing digital systems consists of analyzing them into smaller parts that can be perfectly solved with some form of automated design system.

  Digital systems can be fragile, in that if a single piece of digital data is lost or misinterpreted, the meaning of large blocks of related data can completely change. This problem can be mitigated by designing the digital system for robustness. An important issue is to remove unused logic signals to minimize the numbers of states.

  2. There are quantization errors as the analog signals from the real world are translated into a storable, regenerable digital form. This problem can usually be mitigated by storing more digital data.

  3. Digital systems can use such subtle features to store digital states that digital systems errors can be hard to correctly regenerate. In most digital circuits, these problems show up as "glitches", vanishingly-fast pulses that may trigger some logic but not others, "" that do not reach valid switching (threshold) voltages, or unexpected ("undecoded") combinations of logic states.

  4. Digital circuits are slower to perform calculations than analog circuits using similar components.

  5. Digital circuits are sometimes more expensive, especially in small quantities.
